Grants and Santa Ana Public Library:
Over the years, the library has been able to create many wonderful programs for the community using grant funds. Among these are:
· The Learning Centers’ after-school tutoring program
· A Workforce Investment Act program to teach digital media production skills to at-risk teens
· A Skills-to-Work program to help limited English speaking adults develop English skills needed to find employment
· A 3-year grant to introduce teens and young adults to the library profession while offering them paid internships in the library
In the last three years:The Library has been awarded $1,737,000 in grants!

Good News:
The Santa Ana Public Library has been awarded three new grants by the California State Library:
· A grant to provide over 300 3rd graders with enhanced literacy skills
· A grant to create a Tech Club for Santa Ana small businesses and individuals interested in learning digital publishing
· A grant to introduce 20 plus at-risk teens to the life experiences of Mona Ruiz, Santa Ana native who went from gang member to police officer.

The Santa Ana Library has just been awarded the “Digitizing Yourself into the Internet Community” grant by the Library Services Technology Act. This grant will enable the Library to expand its offering of basic computer classes with brand new courses taught by experts. These classes will help patrons build the skills necessary to participate in the digital age.

A new reading program designed to improve literacy skills for 2nd and 3rd graders is coming to the Santa Ana Public Library. Created by Senior Youth Services Librarian, Silvia Cisneros, the program is called Literacy on the Move and was created with the intention of helping children improve their reading in the areas of word recognition, comprehension, speed, and accuracy.
